A Valentine’s Day celebration at the Indore campus of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) turned chaotic on Thursday after activists of Bajrang Dal allegedly stormed the premises, raising slogans and protesting against the event. Event underway when protest began The institute had organised a cultural programme to mark Valentine’s Day, with students from various departments participating. The event was underway inside the campus when a group of Bajrang Dal members reached the college and objected to the celebration. The activists reportedly began raising slogans at the entrance before moving further inside the premises. The activists later started reciting Hamuman Chalisa in the college campus. Alleged vandalism triggers panic Eyewitnesses said that amid the protest, some activists allegedly entered the campus and damaged property, creating panic among students and staff members. The disruption forced organisers to halt the programme midway. Videos of the incident later surfaced on social media, showing sloganeering and commotion within the campus. Police rush to spot On receiving information, police teams from Gandhi Nagar and Aerodrome police stations reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Senior officers remained present for some time to prevent further escalation. No serious injuries were reported, though minor property damage has been noted. CCTV footage under examination Police have started investigating the case and examining the CCTV footage of the college. Krishan Lalchandani, DCP said, “Prior information about the Valentine’s Day event had not been shared with the local police station. We are now examining CCTV footage and viral videos to identify those involved in the vandalism. Appropriate legal action will be taken against those found responsible after verification of evidence.”
