Sri Lanka beat Oman by 105 runs in T20 WC:All-round dominance helps co-hosts continue winning start

Sri Lanka defeated Oman by a mammoth 105-run margin in a Group B match in the T20 World Cup 2026 in Pallekele, on 12 February. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 225/5 and later restricted Oman to 120/9. With this victory, Sri Lanka continued their winning start in the tournament. Oman, on the other hand, suffered their second consecutive defeat in the competition. Batters fire Sri Lanka to massive score Sri Lanka dished out a dominant effort after being asked to bat first. Kusal Mendis struck 61 runs off 45 deliveries while Pavan Rathnayake’s 28-ball 60 and captain Dasun Shanaka’s 20-ball 50 helped the tournament co-hosts get to 225/5. For Oman, Jiten Ramanadi took two wickets for 41 runs in his four overs. Jay Odedra and Sufyan Mehmood were the other wicket-takers for Oman. Disciplined bowling helps Sri Lanka restrict Oman Sri Lanka were pretty disciplined with the ball in hand, restricting Oman to 120/9. Maheesh Theekshana was the best bowler for Sri Lanka with two wickets for 11 runs. Dushmantha Chameera took two wickets as well while conceding 19 runs off his two overs. Kamindu Mendis (1/10), Dunith Wellalage (1/17) and Wanindu Hasaranga’s injury replacement Dushan Hemantha (1/45) were the other wicket-takers.
