According to official figures, the opening day recorded 18.3 billion minutes of total watch time. This makes it the biggest opening day in the history of any ICC event. The opening day viewership has increased by 59%, showing tremendous growth in fan engagement. Digital and TV viewership see massive growth The rise in digital viewership has been especially impressive. On Jio-Hotstar alone, 101.9 million people watched matches on the first day. This marks an 81% increase compared to the 2024 edition. The India-USA match on February 7 played a major role in boosting the numbers. India defeated USA by 29 runs in that game. Compared to India’s first match against Ireland in the 2024 World Cup, the India-USA match saw a 41% increase in TV ratings and a 98% increase in digital reach. More than 130 experts are part of the coverage team. Special features like MaxView for mobile users have also been introduced to improve the viewing experience.
