Madhya Pradesh is experiencing rising daytime temperatures as the state moves into mid-February. On Tuesday, maximum temperatures in 15 cities, including Bhopal and Indore, crossed the 30°C mark. Despite the daytime heat, nights remain cold, with 11 cities recording minimum temperatures below 10°C, according to the Meteorological Department. The department has forecast a slight drop in both day and night temperatures over the next two days. Weather systems and western disturbances According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), two weather systems are currently active over the country, but both are weak, making the chances of rainfall low. A new western disturbance is expected to affect the western Himalayan region between February 13 and 16, which could impact Madhya Pradesh. This system may lead to a drop in both day and night temperatures by 3–4°C. City-wise temperature observations On Tuesday, temperatures in Bhopal, Indore, Damoh, Khajuraho, Mandla, Sagar, Tikamgarh, Betul, Guna, Dhar, Khandwa, Khargone, Raisen, Ratlam, and Narmadapuram exceeded 30°C. In Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and most other parts of the state, bright sunshine contributed to higher daytime temperatures. However, the cold impact at night and early morning remains.
