India’s star finisher Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj are set to exchange seven pheras in June this year. The wedding will take place in Kashi. Last year, on 8 June, Rinku and Priya held their ring ceremony in Lucknow. A wedding date was initially fixed for November 2025, but it could not take place. A second date in February 2026 was also postponed due to the T20 World Cup and IPL schedule. The ceremony is now planned for June. Rinku’s elder brother, Sonu Singh, stated that the dates 11 and 12 June were initially considered, but due to Rinku’s IPL commitments, a new date was arranged. The wedding in Kashi will take place once Rinku is free from IPL matches, with the reception scheduled in Aligarh. Keeping politics away from the wedding From Rinku’s side, only 10–12 close family members and relatives are expected to attend. The small guest list is deliberate: many of the groom’s close associates are linked to the BJP, while the bride herself is a Samajwadi Party MP. Invitations were therefore carefully considered to avoid any political tension. Following the ring ceremony, 20 MPs including Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, Jaya Bachchan, and Shivpal Yadav had given their blessings to the couple. During the ring ceremony on 8 June 2025, around 300 VIP guests attended, including BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, former cricketer Piyush Chawla, Praveen Kumar, and bowler Yash Dayal. Arjun Singh Fakira, considered a mentor to Rinku, arrived in a car adorned with the BJP flag, which caused some objections from the Samajwadi Party side. Arjun Singh Fakira clarified that he parked the car outside before joining the ceremony. To avoid similar situations, the wedding in Kashi will include only 10–12 close relatives, ensuring that political differences or rivalries do not become a source of dispute. Previous delays Fans have eagerly awaited Rinku and Priya’s wedding. Earlier dates were postponed: the first on 18 November 2025 was delayed due to a cricket series, and the second in February 2026 was cancelled due to the World Cup. With the IPL final now concluded, preparations for the June wedding are underway. How Rinku and Priya met Their love story began around two years ago. During IPL 2023, Rinku hit five consecutive sixes to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to a last-over victory. Through team seniors, Rinku became acquainted with Priya, who was introduced to him at a senior cricketer’s wedding in Delhi. Priya, a BA-LLB graduate from Delhi University, had been friends with the cricketer’s wife, which led to their introduction and the start of their relationship. Know MP Priya Saroj Priya Saroj hails from Karkhiyanv in Pindra Tehsil, Varanasi district. Born on 23 November 1998, she joined the Samajwadi Party soon after turning 18 and actively participated in various party events. By age 25, she defeated BJP’s BP Saroj to win a Lok Sabha seat. Her father, Toofani Saroj, was a three-time MP from Machhlishahr (1999, 2004, 2009). Rinku Singh’s early life and cricket journey In an interview with KKR, Rinku spoke about his upbringing. He comes from a family of five brothers, with his father working in cylinder delivery. The brothers would assist him in deliveries, often transporting two cylinders per bike. Rinku began playing cricket with tennis and leather balls. He also played at Modern School in Aligarh, scoring 54 not out in an inter-school tournament off 32 balls.
