12-minute-video-of-youth-surfaces-after-suicide:accuses-girlfriend’s-family-of-threats;-phone-returned-after-10-months,-family-seeks-justice

A suicide case from Indore has resurfaced after a 12-minute video recorded by the deceased before his death came to light nearly 10 months later. In the video, the youth accuses his girlfriend, her fiancé and several of her relatives of mental harassment, threats and abetment to suicide. The family has now submitted the video as evidence and is demanding strict legal action. The incident took place on 5 April 2025, when 27-year-old Manish Yadav died by suicide behind the Industry House area in Indore. Following the incident, MIG police seized his mobile phone as part of the investigation. The phone was recently returned to the family, during which the pre-recorded video was discovered. The emergence of the video has given the case a new direction and raised serious questions over the investigation. The family alleges that despite the video naming specific individuals and detailing repeated threats, no concrete action has been taken so far. What is in the 12-minute video? In the video, Manish narrates his story in detail, describing his relationship, the alleged harassment he faced and the circumstances that led him to take the extreme step. He divides the account into five chapters and also delivers a message for society and young people. Chapter 1: Ten years of love, followed by 20 days of silence At the beginning of the video, Manish introduces himself saying – I am Manish Yadav. Son of Ramji Yadav. I live in Narmada Colony. I am saying all this with a very heavy heart because it has become difficult for me to bear anymore. Speaking about his girlfriend Palak Chaubey, he says – I loved a girl very much. Very much. Her name is Palak Chaubey. Manish explains that he was in a relationship with Palak for 10 years. During these years, they not only maintained a relationship but also dreamed of living and dying together. They planned marriage and children, but the story took a turn when about 20-25 days ago, Palak suddenly stopped talking to him. According to Manish, no calls, no messages. It’s as if I was suddenly erased from her life. Chapter 2: Threats and growing pressure Manish states that he tried repeatedly to contact Palak but failed. He then reached out to friends of her fiancé, Himanshu Sharma, who initially spoke politely but later began issuing threats. He claims that unknown people started visiting his house at night and intimidating him. He says he could not even share this with his brothers. Manish also recounts a phone conversation with Himanshu Sharma, during which he pleaded for emotional closure. According to Manish, Himanshu told him to move on, saying Palak had already done so. A few hours later, Manish alleges that individuals again approached him, this time threatening him with knives. He claims this was part of a planned conspiracy to intimidate him. Chapter 3: Allegations against girlfriend’s relatives In the video, Manish directly holds Palak Choubey, her fiancé Himanshu Sharma and her aunt Ranu responsible for his condition. He alleges that Ranu influenced Palak and deliberately turned her against him. Manish claims that Ranu called his friends and threatened them, warning that Palak would be abducted, killed or “disposed of”. He also names Palak’s uncle, Gopal Purohit, alleging that his name was repeatedly used to intimidate him. He demands a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe against Gopal Purohit, alleging involvement in illegal financial activities. Manish claims that Purohit possessed large sums of unaccounted money and properties, including land in Satwas, assets in Kannod’s Riddhi-Siddhi Colony, and shops near the bus stand and Talab Mohalla. These claims remain allegations. Chapter 4: Message for Society and Youth In his final moments, Manish delivers an emotional message to society, especially young people. He advises caution in relationships and warns against sudden emotional abandonment. He displays a small idol of Lord Ganesha, stating that it was gifted to him by Palak and that he valued it more than his life. He says he is taking the idol with him. Manish also appeals directly to young women, urging them not to play with emotions. He states that emotional impact on young men can be severe and long-lasting. Chapter 5: Final Farewell to Family and Friends Towards the end of the video, Manish apologises to his parents, saying he has caused them immense pain. He expresses love for his father and mother and seeks their forgiveness. He also thanks his friends — Anand, Sachin, Sarathi, Swapnil, Sunny, Shashi, Shubham, Santosh, Eddie, Chinga and Raj — stating that they made sincere efforts to help him cope during his difficult phase. Mother’s Plea: My son revealed everything, now justice should be served Manish’s mother, Uma Yadav, is inconsolable. She said that 10 months have passed since her son’s death, but no meaningful action has been taken so far. She said her son had spoken everything in the video and appealed to the police and administration to treat it as crucial evidence. The family hopes that the resurfacing of the video will lead to accountability and justice in the case.
