Police have arrested the accused involved in a series of attacks by a cutter on young women in the Piplani and Ayodhya Nagar areas, ending days of fear among residents. The arrest was made late Wednesday night after a police cordon in the Chhola area. According to the information, the accused has been identified as Devendra Ahirwar, a resident of Sagar district. Police said preliminary investigation revealed that he went on the attack spree after a domestic dispute with his wife and targeted young women to vent his anger. Police formed 5 teams to nab accused The attacks had triggered panic among women in several parts of the city. In response, police formed five special teams comprising Crime Branch officials and personnel from Ayodhya Nagar and Piplani police stations. A reward of ₹20,000 had been announced for information leading to his arrest, and more than 100 police personnel were deployed to track him down. Cops to examine 100 CCTV across city As part of the investigation, police scanned records of habitual offenders and questioned suspects involved in previous cases of blade attacks and molestation. Footage from over 100 CCTV cameras across the city was examined, which ultimately helped police identify and trace the accused. Police said the accused works as a labourer in Bhopal and is addicted to alcohol. Further investigation is underway to verify his involvement in other similar incidents.
