A man allegedly murdered his married lover’s seven-year-old son after she refused to marry him in Shahdol district. The accused strangled the child and dumped his body in a coal mine in the Dhanpuri police station area. The child trusted the accused, addressing him as “mama,” which the man used to lure him away. Police revealed the case on Monday night, stating that the accused had also planned to kill the woman’s second child but was arrested before he could execute the plan. Accused pressured girlfriend to marry According to police, the accused, identified as Moishin Khan, worked as a driver in Chhattisgarh. The woman lived in Dhanpuri with her husband and children and worked as a labourer. Moishin had been persistently pressuring her to marry him. When she clearly refused to leave her husband and children, he allegedly decided to take revenge by killing her child. Child went missing on January 27 The incident came to light after the seven-year-old went missing on January 27. Family members searched the neighbourhood but found no trace of him. The child’s mother later lodged a missing person complaint at the Dhanpuri police station. She told police that on January 26, Moishin Khan had come to her house and questioned why she was not talking to him or staying with him. When she refused his demands, he reportedly threatened her, saying he could go to any extent Suspicion deepened after witness statement Despite police searches, the child could not be found. During the investigation, a woman informed police that she had seen Moishin entering and exiting a coal mine around the same time the child went missing. The accused also noticed the woman spotting him and fled the spot, fearing he would be caught. Based on this information, police detained Moishin Khan for questioning. Confession during interrogation During interrogation, the accused initially tried to mislead the police. However, after sustained questioning, he confessed to the crime. He claimed he was deeply in love with the woman and was willing to go to any extent to have her. Moishin admitted that he took the child on his motorcycle on January 27, pretending to take him for a ride. Trusting him as “mama,” the child went along without fear. The accused took him to an abandoned coal mine, strangled him, and threw the body into a water-filled pit. Body recovered, accused sent to jail Dhanpuri police station in-charge (SHO) Khem Singh Pendre confirmed that the child’s body was recovered from the coal mine on January 30. Police said the murder was driven by anger after the woman refused to marry the accused. Moishin Khan was arrested and produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
