The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on February 7, and ahead of the much-awaited tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has scheduled a special Captains’ Day on February 5. The event will give team captains a platform to interact with the media and share their thoughts before the competition begins. Captains’ Day is an important media engagement event organised by the ICC before major tournaments. It allows captains to speak about team preparations, strategies, and expectations while also building excitement among fans worldwide. This year, the Captains’ Day will be held in two cities, Mumbai (India) and Colombo (Sri Lanka), with captains divided across both venues. With the Captains’ Day set to build excitement and the tournament just days away, the T20 World Cup 2026 promises thrilling cricket across two nations. 12 team captains to attend the captains’ day in Mumbai A total of 12 team captains will take part in the Captains’ Day event in Mumbai on February 5. The event will be hosted at the BCCI office at Wankhede Stadium. Captains from India, Afghanistan, Canada, England, Italy, Namibia, Nepal, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, the USA, and the West Indies will attend the Mumbai meet. All captains have been divided into two groups for media interactions. The Group 1 press conference will begin at 3:00 PM, followed by the Group 2 press conference at 3:30 PM. Captains’ day event for 8 teams in Colombo Another Captains’ Day event will be organised in Colombo, Sri Lanka, also on February 5. This event will feature captains from Sri Lanka, Australia, Ireland, the Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, the UAE, and Zimbabwe. Similar to the Mumbai event, the captains in Colombo have also been divided into two groups. The Group 1 press conference will start at 12:00 PM, while Group 2 will begin at 12:30 PM. The event will take place at the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) in Colombo. The Colombo meet will give teams playing most of their matches in Sri Lanka a chance to address the media closer to their match venues. In India, matches will be played at: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Chepauk Stadium, Chenna and Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai In Sri Lanka, matches will be held in Colombo and Kandy, with Colombo hosting games at the R Premadasa Stadium and the Sinhalese Sports Club Stadium. Team India will play their group-stage matches in Mumbai, Delhi, Colombo, and Ahmedabad, giving fans across multiple cities a chance to watch the hosts in action.
