A fire broke out early Friday morning in a tailor’s shop located on the ground floor of a three-storey building in Pinjara Bakhal, near Bambai Bazaar in Indore. The incident occurred around 5.30 am, with the cause suspected to be a fault in the electrical wiring. As the fire spread, nearly 25 people sleeping inside the building, including those above the shop, were engulfed by thick smoke and flames. Two youths sleeping on the first floor panicked after smoke filled their room and attempted to jump out of a window. The fire brigade received information at 6.08 am and reached the spot by 6.20 am. Firefighters used ladders to safely bring both youths down. The blaze was brought under control after spraying around 10,000 litres of water. No casualties were reported. Major mishap averted: According to eyewitnesses, the fire originated in the tailor shop owned by Anwar Khan. Parvez (45) and Avesh Raza (20), who were staying on the upper floor, began screaming in panic and were on the verge of jumping from the window. Local residents parked a loading vehicle below the building and placed mattresses inside it as a precaution. Meanwhile, the fire brigade arrived and safely rescued the two youths using ladders. A tenant couple and their son were also rescued from a nearby terrace.
