In Shivpuri district’s Rannod police station area, Constable Awadhesh Sharma was attacked during vehicle checking duty on Saturday evening after a dispute, suffering head injuries. Following the incident, relatives of the accused created a ruckus and blocked the road outside the police station. Police said routine vehicle checks were underway when Manoj Jatav arrived with some men and women in his car. After document verification, police issued a challan, which led to the dispute and subsequent assault. Dispute started over challan being issued When the challan was issued, Manoj Jatav’s brother-in-law, Nilesh Jatav, arrived at the spot on a bike and started protesting the action. During the protest, an argument broke out between the police and the relatives, which soon turned into an assault. During this, Constable Awadhesh Sharma was hit on the head. See Pictures Family said, ‘Constable first assaulted him’ A video of the incident, approximately 9 seconds long, has also surfaced on social media, in which a woman and a man are seen assaulting the constable. The Jatav family alleged that the constable first assaulted them, in which one of their women and an innocent child were also injured. The police administration stated, An investigation into the matter has been initiated. Statements are being taken from both parties. Currently, no formal statement has been issued by the police.
