Tribal Affairs Minister Vijay Shah said media persons are jealous of him on Thursday at an International Conference on Forensic Science at Khandwa Medical College. Arriving as the chief guest, he spoke about government schemes for medical students, revealing that his department has paid fees for 14 children this year, with each receiving Rs 37 lakh. The minister said, ‘Look, I have the list of those children. At the conference, medical students raised the issue of relying on autos or rickshaws to reach the hospital. Minister Shah highlighted the Harsud government college, where he provided four buses for students, and promised to arrange a bus for them by March, asking the Dean to confirm in writing that diesel and a driver will be provided. Doctors also flagged the lack of an MRI facility, to which the minister said he would raise the matter at the government level and arrange the MRI through outsourcing. The Vijay Shah case was heard in the Supreme Court after six months. On Monday, the court said his online apology came too late and directed the state government to decide within two weeks on granting sanction to prosecute him. A bench of CJI Suryakant, Justice Dipankar Datta, and Justice Joymalya Bagchi expressed strong displeasure over the government’s delay in acting on the SIT report, which has already completed its investigation and filed the final report.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court commented, You have been considering the SIT report since August 19, 2025. The law places an obligation on you and you have to make a decision. Now it is January 19. The court opened the SIT’s sealed report and found that after investigating various aspects, it had sought government sanction to prosecute him. The court said- We have been informed that no action has been taken by the state as the matter is pending here.
