‘you’ve-shamed-indore-nationally’:now-ask-yourself,-‘is-this-incident-a-stain-on-the-city,-or-are-you-the-stain?’;-24-deaths-raise-serious-questions-system-failure

Indore, known as the country’s cleanest city, is facing serious questions after 24 people died due to contaminated drinking water. The incident has brought shame to the city and raised concerns about its much-praised cleanliness model. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Indore 18 days after the incident and met the families of the victims. He announced an additional compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh for the relatives of the deceased. However, the deaths have sparked a bigger debate, as a Water Plus certified city lost lives because of dirty water, damaging Indore’s image in India and abroad. Whether it’s about the cleanliness here or the Smart City. Everything is under scrutiny. This incident is being called a stain on Indore’s image. But put your hand on your heart. Remember your deeds. Look at the political filth created by both parties. …and then admit that this incident alone is not a stain on Indore, you are also such a stain. Please forgive me for having to use such words. But as a resident of Indore, this anger is in my mind. And not just mine, it must be in the mind of every Indori who loves their city. Who is watching deaths happen just due to system failure. The father who prayed for a child for 10 years and lost him in 5 months…the same anger must be in his mother too. Urmila ji, Nandlal ji, Gomati ji, Tarabai, Gitabai, Arvind ji, along with all those 24 families, must also be feeling the same anger. It must be in those 3 families whose parents have been dependent on artificial respiration on ventilators for many days. But it is not visible only in you. Neither in the administration, nor in the corporation. Neither in BJP nor in Congress. Here, only statements, defenses, silence, and the bullying to silence are going on. …and there’s more to ask, but will they be able to answer?
If they can, tell us – Even after such a big tragedy related to health, where is Health Minister Rajendra Shukla? Where is the city’s MP Shankar Lalwani? If there is a water tragedy, where is Water Minister Tulsiram Silawat? Where are the other MLAs Golu Shukla, Malini Gaud, Mahendra Hardia, Madhu Verma, Manoj Patel, Usha Thakur? Where is that power of the opposition that can trouble the government? That would fight to get justice. And only relent after securing rights. There is no one anywhere. And apart from these personalities of the city and state, there is still no proper water in the taps of Bhagirathpura. There isn’t even a guarantee of strict action against those who take away lives. This stain is hurting more because we are number 1
We cannot tell you how much this stain is hurting. Do you know why? Because we are number 1. We have always been number 1. This is ingrained in our habit. We are proud of this. Every Indori is proud of this. And they pay every price for it. This is precisely what increases your responsibility to ensure everything is alright. But even this responsibility was not fulfilled by you. And even now, only the work of covering up is happening. Come on, Government! Now make the city number-1 in taking action against those responsible For these deaths, national disgrace, and ruined system, why are those responsible still being protected? While it is understood that this is not unintentional…it is a deliberate act. So why wasn’t a direct FIR filed against those officers? Why no action against officers who deliberately stopped tenders? Why no action against the councilor who watched everything happen even after receiving complaints? Now be strict, Government. Every resident of Indore demands from you that this time, teach every responsible person a lesson. Take such action that we can proudly say… this is Indore. The government here does not spare the negligent. Whoever it may be, they get punished. This city is also number 1 in taking action. The words are sharp… but they are connected to my state, my city. They are connected to its honor. They are connected to every resident of Indore. Thank you.
