Questions are being raised after beef was seized from a truck at the government slaughterhouse in Bhopal. The Municipal Corporation and police have started an investigation, and some officials may have been suspended. Still, serious doubts remain about the role of the Municipal Corporation, police and doctors in this case. The biggest question is how more than 260 cows were slaughtered in a slaughterhouse located just two kilometres from the secretariat, without the system knowing about it. The matter came to light only after protests by Hindu organisations. They allege that the administration tried to suppress the issue and did not take the strict action required. It is important to note that the Municipal Corporation had approved the operation of this slaughterhouse just one month ago. The responsibility to run it was given to Aslam Qureshi of Live Stock Food Processor Limited. Ultimately, what kind of negligence was shown in this entire matter? How did the Municipal Corporation and police officers surrender before the cow smuggler, and why was Aslam Chamada not interrogated? What was the role of each responsible party? Read the full story… Cows slaughtered in cow protection year On January 7, when the report came from Mathura Laboratory, everyone was stunned. The samples taken from the packets confirmed the presence of beef. This was important because cow slaughter has been banned in Madhya Pradesh since 2004. The country’s strictest law on cow slaughter is also in MP. In Madhya Pradesh, 2024–25 was declared as Cow Protection Year. The entire government system of the BJP government got involved in suppressing this matter. That is, at 12:49 PM, an FIR was registered at Jahangirabad police station. After the FIR, the police arrested Aslam Chamada, the operator of the slaughterhouse, and Shoaib, the driver of the container, and sent them directly to jail. And that too without any interrogation. All this happened so secretly that those who stopped that truck and accused it of containing beef didn’t get even a whisper of it. How did such a big game happen with the system’s collusion? This illicit business is not the result of negligence by a single person or department, but rather points to a well-planned and organized crime, in which several government departments are under scrutiny. Land worth 100 crore on an annual lease of 20 lakh rupees The entire operation of the slaughterhouse was running due to the municipal corporation’s favor. The Municipal Corporation had entrusted the responsibility of operating this slaughterhouse to Aslam Qureshi alias ‘Aslam Chamada’s’ company ‘Live Stock Food Processor’. According to sources, valuable land worth about 100 crore rupees was given to Aslam on an annual lease of just 20 lakh rupees for 20 years. Municipal Council President Kishan Suryavanshi alleges that Mayor Malti Rai handed over the operation to Aslam, keeping the council in the dark. When this file reached Municipal Commissioner Sanskriti Jain, she also approved it within 26 hours. Meanwhile, Mayor Malti Rai says that Aslam’s company had also invested money in building the slaughterhouse. The corporation’s veterinary doctor, Dr. B.S. Gaur, had given permission to slaughter buffaloes in the slaughterhouse, but did not bother to check whether buffaloes or cows were being slaughtered there. What action was taken: After the matter came to light, 9 employees, including Dr. Gaur, were suspended and the slaughterhouse was sealed. Aslam became the king of the slaughter business Aslam’s same company had also received the contract for the disposal of dead animals in the city. Aslam started a rendering plant using waste material from the slaughterhouse and dead animals. This led to the start of a new business of making poultry feed. Meanwhile, Aslam already had a contract for meat supply in Van Vihar. Aslam had become the king of the slaughter business due to his influence. Intelligence failure or deliberate oversight? In this entire matter, the role of Bhopal police is most suspicious. More than 260 cows were brought and slaughtered in the middle of the city, but the police and its intelligence system did not get any hint of it. This is a major failure. After the report came, the police secretly registered an FIR at Jahangirabad police station. The main accused Aslam Chamada and driver Shoaib were arrested and sent directly to jail without any interrogation or remand. On the day the container was caught, why did the police not seize the CCTV footage of the slaughterhouse? Are they trying to hide them? The question remains as it is: why were the main accused not interrogated? What action was taken: After widespread pressure, an SIT has been formed to investigate the case. Veterinarians tried to hide the truth The veterinarians who arrived at the scene also made their role suspicious. A team of three doctors identified the meat as buffalo, giving the smugglers an opportunity to release the container. The doctors argue that the report from Mathura is only a carotene test, which cannot stand in court. A DNA test is necessary for accurate results, which has not been conducted yet. The question arises: why is the administration avoiding DNA testing? The biggest evidence of this whole game is hidden in the slaughterhouse’s calculations. The slaughterhouse was permitted to slaughter 85 buffaloes. On average, 1 to 1.5 quintals (100-150 kg) of meat comes from one buffalo. According to this, a maximum of 127.5 quintals (12.75 tons) of meat could have been obtained from 85 buffaloes. 26.5 tons (265 quintals) of meat were found in the container, which was more than double the permitted amount. Chandrashekhar Tiwari of Sanskriti Bachao Manch says, “This is the eighth time we have caught cow meat. If our intelligence system is so strong, then why doesn’t the administration get the news?” Answers to these questions are still not found Post navigation Indore water systems built by kings failed by system:1850s epidemics forced reforms, droughts in 1900 refined planning and supply; Narmada water in 1978 fueled city’s all-round growth Sadhvi Harsha claims receiving offers for religious conversion:Says saints avoid meeting her, leading to statement about quitting religious preaching publicly amid pressure
