A fresh twist has emerged in the alleged blackmail case involving BJP MLA Kalu Singh Thakur from Dharampuri in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, with police registering FIRs against the woman named by the legislator and launching a search for her and her husband, Kasif. The development comes even as the woman, in two videos released on Friday, rejected all allegations and claimed she is currently in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Following the videos, Bhaskar said it had received audio clips purported to be conversations between the MLA and the woman, though the newspaper stated it has not independently verified the recordings. Discussions on money, travel and relocation Audio clips that surfaced after the woman released videos denying the BJP MLA’s allegations show repeated discussions between the two on money, travel arrangements and relocation. In the recordings, the MLA is heard urging the woman to leave Dhamnod and travel to Bhopal, suggesting specific train and bus routes and offering to receive her at the railway station. The woman repeatedly says she has no money, no functional bank account and three children to support, and seeks financial assistance as well as help in resolving her dispute with her family. Rising tension and allegations As the conversations progress, the tone becomes increasingly strained. The MLA is heard expressing concern about delays, expenses and public perception, while questioning the woman’s intentions. The woman alleges she was asked to come to Bhopal without adequate support and accuses the MLA of verbal abuse. The MLA, in turn, denies the allegations and is heard accusing the woman of attempting to blackmail him. Claims of official involvement In later audio clips, the MLA claims that the calls are being recorded and that senior police officials, including the local Station House Officer and Superintendent of Police, are aware of the matter. He also refers to having spoken to the woman’s family and to presenting his version of events. The woman disputes the MLA’s claims and reiterates that she approached him seeking help, while alleging inappropriate conduct, which the MLA rejects. Verification and investigation The authenticity of the audio clips has not been independently verified by this newspaper. Police have not yet publicly clarified the status of the recordings or how they will be assessed as part of the ongoing investigation.
