An air ambulance sent to airlift 21-year-old Kirti Chandel, suffering from a spinal tumour, had to circle over Dindori for 15 minutes as pilot Sanjay Sharma faced difficulty landing due to electrical wires near the helipad. After touching down at the police ground, Sharma demanded the wires be removed, calling the helipad “unfit for landing.” Following his objection, officials promptly cleared the area, allowing Kirti to be safely transferred from Dindori District Hospital to AIIMS Bhopal. Heera Chandel, a resident of village Pipariya in Amarpur block, said that Kirti is my younger daughter. She completed BSc from college. She was about to fill the form for MSc, but in June she suddenly started having pain below her waist. Treatment continued at many places. Then she was admitted to AIIMS Hospital Raipur. When she got better, we brought her home. She was fine for a few months. On Monday evening January 5, when the pain suddenly started increasing rapidly, she was admitted to the district hospital. Here in the ICU, doctors checked and said that she is being shifted to AIIMS Bhopal. The air ambulance was supposed to come at 12:30 PM on Wednesday. The time changed to 2:30 PM. Then it got cancelled. After this, the daughter was airlifted today at 10:45 AM. Could not transport by road
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Pandey said that the patient could not be transported long distances by road. Therefore, after discussing with AIIMS Bhopal, an air ambulance was called. It has medical staff present. The patient’s transportation and treatment facilities are free. The entire treatment will be covered under the Ayushman card. Collector Anju Pawan Bhadauria, SDM Bharti Maravi, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Pandey along with police and administrative officers were present at the helipad.
