Police on Tuesday registered a case against a woman Sub-Inspector posted at Civil Line police station in Morena district and a constable for allegedly abetting the suicide of lawyer Mrityunjay Chauhan. The FIR was filed 24 days after Mrityunjay was found hanging in the Gola Ka Mandir police station area of Gwalior. The action was taken after a prolonged police investigation. According to information, Mrityunjay Chauhan hanged himself on December 15 in his rented house in Gwalior. The deceased was engaged to a female SI posted at Morena Civil Line police station. It came to light during the investigation that on December 12, Mrityunjay reached the government accommodation and there he saw the female SI in an objectionable situation with the Constable. Allegations of assault and threats According to the FIR, the female SI incited the constable to attack Mrityunjay. After this, the constable threw him to the ground and beat him. The female SI tried to fire the pistol twice, but the bullet did not go off. Both threatened the deceased that if he informed anyone, they would kill him. Police complaint was not heard After the incident, the deceased complained to the Morena police, but no action was taken. On the contrary, on December 14, a case was registered against Mrityunjay in Gwalior based on the female SI’s complaint. Due to mental trauma, Mrityunjay committed suicide the next day. Confirmation from CDR and technical evidence Police investigated based on the deceased’s mother, several eyewitnesses, and technical evidence. Call detail records and mobile location confirmed the incident. The investigation also revealed that the female SI accused the deceased of pressure to marry, divorcing his ex-wife, and seizing land and jewelry. When his sister arrived, he was found hanging Police registered a case after investigation After 22 days of investigation, Gola Ka Mandir police station registered a case against the female SI and constable under sections 108 and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
