‘families-must-reflect-on-how-daughters-get-misled’:rss-chief-addresses-‘stri-shakti-samvad’-in-bhopal;-says,-‘open-dialogue-at-homes-can-curb-‘love-jihad’

In Bhopal, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said that the prevention of “love jihad” should begin within the family. He stressed the need for families to introspect and maintain continuous dialogue, especially to understand how daughters may be misled. Bhagwat was addressing the ‘Stri Shakti Samvad’ programme held at Shivneri Bhavan. He said that open communication within households is essential and families must remain alert while also taking strict action against criminals. According to him, awareness, caution, and self-defense should be instilled in daughters from an early age. Women central to family and society Bhagwat said women play a central role in both family and society. He described women as the architects of society, stating that the responsibility of shaping future generations largely rests with mothers. He added that a household cannot function without women, who unite the family, manage responsibilities, and maintain balance. He stressed that comparing men and women in terms of superiority is meaningless, as both complement each other. Creation and progress, he said, are possible only through the cooperation of both. Warning against blind westernisation The RSS chief cautioned against blindly adopting Western lifestyles in the name of modernity. He said Indian traditions place women at a higher level than just motherhood, indicating their strength and leadership. Citing Rani Laxmibai as an example, Bhagwat said Indian women have shown courage and power in every era. Mental stress, suicides linked to lack of communication Bhagwat expressed concern over rising mental stress and suicide cases. He said no one in a family should feel isolated and that lack of communication and unrealistic expectations often lead to emotional distress. He advised parents to understand children’s interests rather than imposing goals on them. According to him, life’s purpose should not be limited to success alone, but to living a meaningful life. Nation building incomplete without women He said nation-building cannot be complete without women’s participation. Although women constitute nearly half of the population, many are still not fully connected to social and national responsibilities. He called for special efforts to bring such women into the mainstream. Concluding his address, Bhagwat reiterated that societies where women are respected remain healthy and balanced, echoing the belief that ‘where women are honored, society prospers.’
