Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Class train on the Kolkata–Guwahati route in upcoming days, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Thursday. The launch is expected within the next 15–20 days, most likely on January 18 or 19, as testing and certification of the train have been completed. The official date is likely to be announced in the next two to three days. Vaishnaw said, “For a long time, there has been a demand for new generation trains. Vande Bharat chair car started a new era in Indian Railways. People started liking it a lot. Demands are being received from all corners of the country for running Vande Bharat trains.” Testing and certification completed “The complete testing and certification of the Vande Bharat sleeper train has been completed. Detailing the train’s features, he said the Vande Bharat Sleeper is equipped with advanced safety systems, enhanced suspension, energy-efficient traction, and a more streamlined, aerodynamic design. It also includes upgraded passenger amenities designed to make long-distance travel more comfortable and dependable.
