A video has surfaced online which purpotedly showing a IAS and Narsinghpur’s District Panchayat CEO Gajendra Singh Nagesh, slapping a youth at the Narmada riverbank.
As per the information, the incident occurred on Saturday after the officer became angry at the youth for urinating near the river. The video surfaced on Monday, triggering public outrage. Incident details: Youth slapped, priest threatened The incident took place at Barman Rait Ghat, where the youth, Brajesh Nauriya, who runs a nearby general store, had gone behind the ghat to urinate. When CEO Gajendra Nagesh arrived, he allegedly became furious. Instead of taking standard action, the officer reportedly slapped the youth two to three times, threatened to destroy his shop, and warned him not to appear at the ghat again. Meanwhile, a priest, Kailash Chandra Mishra, who performs religious rituals at the ghat, intervened to stop the confrontation. He alleged that the officer verbally abused him, saying, I will bury you in the sand; as much as is visible above, I will push you in that deep. The priest also claimed he was forced to perform disciplinary exercises as a form of punishment. Members condemned the officer’s public behaviour as humiliating and disrespectful, demanding an impartial investigation and strict action. Priest Kailash Chandra Mishra has filed a written complaint with the Collector and SP, urging them to take action. He stated that the incident caused him public humiliation and hurt religious sentiments. Police response SDOP Manoj Gupta confirmed that the Brahmin community submitted a memorandum regarding the incident at Barman Ret Ghat. He said the allegations of misconduct by the District Panchayat CEO have been forwarded to senior authorities for further action.
