A man in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol district brutally murdered his wife during a quarrel over cooking food, right in front of their young daughter. The accused misled the police for a week by claiming the woman died due to illness. After medical evidence exposed the truth, police arrested him and registered a murder case. Incident in Barha village The crime took place on December 21 in Barha village, under the Gohparu police station area of Shahdol district. The accused has been identified as Dinesh Singh Goud. On the day of the incident, Dinesh Singh Goud himself went to the police station. He told the police that his wife, Shanti Bai (35), was unwell and had died suddenly. Based on this information, police registered a case of unnatural death and reached the spot to investigate. Injury marks raise suspicion When police examined the body, they noticed several injury marks.This raised serious suspicion about the cause of death. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. Doctors clearly stated in the post-mortem report that Shanti Bai did not die due to illness. Her death was caused by severe physical injuries. After receiving the report, police took the husband into custody. Accused confesses during interrogation During strict questioning, the accused confessed to the crime on December 28. He admitted that a domestic argument turned violent and resulted in his wife’s death. Police said he kept changing his statements for nearly a week to mislead investigators. Daughter witnessed the brutal assault At the time of the incident, the couple’s minor daughter was present at home. The child repeatedly begged her father to stop. She cried, “Papa, mummy will die, don’t hit her. ”Despite this, the accused continued the assault. Fight started over cooking food According to police, Shanti Bai was plastering the courtyard with mud when the incident happened. Her husband came home and asked her to cook food. She replied that her hands were covered in mud and requested time to finish the work first. This led to a heated argument, which soon turned violent. Family details Shanti Bai had been married for five years.The couple had three children — two daughters and one son. Gohparu police station in-charge Rajkumar Mishra confirmed that a murder case has been registered against Dinesh Singh Goud. The accused has been arrested, and further legal action is underway.
