The bodies of a woman and her two young sons were found hanging from nooses in Sagar district. The incident came to light when the woman’s husband and elder brother-in-law returned home from the fields. The incident took place on Thursday night in Mainai village of Rehli. The deceased woman has been identified as Rachna (32). Her brother-in-law Brajesh Lodhi said that he and his younger brother Rajesh, Rachna’s husband, had gone to the fields for irrigation. They returned home around 9.45 pm. As they were heading towards their respective rooms, Rajesh suddenly screamed. Brajesh rushed to his brother’s room and saw Rachna, her elder son Rishabh (5) and younger son Ram (2) hanging from separate nooses. Ropes cut, but lives already lost The two brothers immediately cut the ropes and brought the three down, but by then all of them had died. No suicide note was found at the spot. It was also reported that the room door was open. Police are probing whether it is a case of suicide or if any other angle is involved. Police reached the spot on Friday afternoon and carried out the panchnama proceedings. Family members were in their rooms at the time Rajesh Lodhi is the youngest of three brothers. The eldest brother Devendra Lodhi has passed away. His wife, one son and three daughters live in the same house. The middle brother Brajesh Lodhi lives there with his wife, a son and a daughter. The family’s mother Prayagraani also stays with them, while their father Gopi Singh Lodhi lives in a house built on the farmland. At the time of the incident, Rajesh and Brajesh were at the fields. Other family members were sleeping in their respective rooms. Rachna had finished dinner, completed household chores and gone to her room with her two sons. Village in shock after incident After the incident, an atmosphere of silence prevailed in Mainai village. FSL team collects evidence On receiving information, Rehli police rushed to the spot. Considering the seriousness of the case, a forensic science laboratory team was also called, which collected evidence from the scene. The postmortem of all three bodies was conducted at Rehli hospital on Friday afternoon. Police have registered a case and begun the investigation. Rehli police station in-charge Sunil Sharma said that the woman allegedly died by suicide along with her two children by hanging. The postmortem is being conducted and the reasons behind the suicide are being investigated. Statements of family members will be recorded, after which the cause will become clear.
