Baghpat youth shoots girlfriend dead following dispute:Hangs himself half an hour later, fearing arrest

In Baghpat, a man shot his girlfriend dead and later took his own life. The accused, Satnam, shot his girlfriend, Guddu in the head; the bullet pierced through her ear, killing her on the spot. After the incident, he fled home and, fearing arrest, hanged himself from a neem tree in the courtyard of his house about 30 minutes later. Police said, Satnam and Guddu had been in a relationship for the past two years. On the morning of the incident, Satnam went to Guddu’s house, located about 50 metres from his own, where an argument broke out between them. During the altercation, he pulled out a pistol from his waist and opened fire. The incident occurred in Bawli village under the Baraut police station area.
