Tension prevailed in the Mahidpur Road area of Ujjain following an alleged molestation incident involving a 16-year-old minor girl. Bajrang Dal activists detained the accused, an auto-rickshaw driver identified as Zuber Mansuri, assaulted him, and later handed him over to the police. Accused allegedly used to drop girl for coaching According to the police, the accused had been regularly dropping and picking up the girl from her coaching classes for a long time. After the complaint surfaced, police initiated an investigation into the matter. Suspicious videos found on mobile phone During the investigation, police recovered some suspicious videos from the accused’s mobile phone, which are currently being examined. Bajrang Dal office-bearers claimed that a total of 20 videos of women were found on the phone—12 allegedly from Mahidpur and eight from nearby areas. Police officials stated that the authenticity and content of the videos are under verification. Road blockade, protest march, and demands for demolition Following the incident, Bajrang Dal workers blocked Mahidpur Road from Wednesday morning, disrupting traffic movement. Protesters demanded that the accused be paraded publicly and that his house be demolished. During the agitation, reports emerged of vandalism and arson at shops that remained open. Some shops were allegedly damaged and set on fire amid the unrest. Slogans targeting school transport drivers Protesters also raised slogans demanding the removal of Muslim drivers from school transport vehicles, further escalating tensions in the area. Case registered, accused arrested Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma said a case has been registered against the accused under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code, and he has been arrested. To maintain law and order, additional police forces have been deployed in the area. Police officials said the situation is currently under control, but the administration remains on high alert. A detailed investigation is underway into the molestation allegations, the recovered videos, and the incidents of vandalism and arson.
