gwalior-engineer-kills-himself-amid-3-year-old-rape-case-allegations:family-claims-victim’s-mother-demanded-₹60-lakh,-paid-₹30-lakh,-continued-blackmail

A 26-year-old engineer, Luvjeet Singh Rana, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Gwalior’s Gola ka Mandir area. The incident was discovered on Saturday morning. Police took the body into custody for post-mortem. Luvjeet had a POCSO Act case registered against him in Dabra, involving a 2 years 11 months-old girl. His family claimed the child’s mother filed a false complaint and demanded Rs 60 lakh for settlement. They said Rs 30 lakh had already been paid, but demands for the remaining amount continued. Job loss and depression Luv worked in Gurugram and lost his job after the case was registered. He had been staying at his uncle’s house in Purushottam Vihar Colony, Gwalior, away from Dabra. On Friday night, he reportedly consumed poison. Family members found him in critical condition on Saturday morning. He was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Alleged incident at friend’s house Luv had returned home on leave in April 2025. During this time, he visited his friend Akash in Dabra, where the alleged incident took place. According to the FIR filed by the girl’s mother, on April 22, Luv and Akash took her daughter for a car ride. The child reportedly told her mother that both men misbehaved with her, and injuries were found on the child’s private parts. Family accuses mother and lawyer of blackmail The deceased’s uncle, Vipin Rana, alleged that the girl’s mother and her lawyer, Tapan Trivedi, pressured the family for money. “Despite paying Rs 30 lakh, they continued to demand another Rs 30 lakh. This blackmail drove Luve into depression, leading to his suicide,” he said. Bright student and professional background Luvjeet was a top-performing student in Dabra, topping both his 10th and 12th-grade exams. He completed his engineering from IPS Institute, Indore, and later worked at a multinational company in Gurugram. Police investigation underway SI Tularam Kushwah of Gola Ka Mandir police station said, “A young man consumed poison. The body has been taken into custody, and investigation is underway. Action will be taken based on the facts that emerge.”
