A shocking revelation has emerged in the case of a newborn baby found in the toilet of Parasia Civil Hospital in Chhindwara. The post-mortem report has confirmed that the baby girl was alive when she was flushed into the commode, and she died due to drowning. Post-mortem findings According to the short post-mortem report, water was found in the baby’s lungs and stomach. This clearly indicates that the baby was breathing before she fell into the commode. Doctors have concluded that death occurred due to drowning, not because the baby was already dead. Police investigation so far Police investigations revealed that 15 pregnant women had visited the OPD for check-ups on Monday. The police have identified and verified details of 14 of them. One woman remains suspicious, as her information has not yet been clearly established. Police suspect that this woman delivered the baby in the hospital toilet, flushed her to destroy evidence, and then fled the premises. Body recovered after seven hours The incident took place on Monday evening. A sanitation worker noticed that the toilet flush was not working. When she looked inside the commode, she saw the head and hand of a newborn baby stuck inside. After nearly seven hours of effort, the commode was broken and the body was retrieved. Doctors confirmed that the baby’s umbilical cord was still attached, indicating that the delivery had taken place shortly before the incident. CCTV footage under scrutiny Police are scanning footage from 26 CCTV cameras installed across the hospital. However, there was no camera near the toilet where the incident occurred. Investigators are examining footage from the gallery areas and entry gates to identify the suspected woman and anyone who accompanied her. The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to establish the identity of the accused and the sequence of events leading to the newborn’s death.
