The mini auction for the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The seven-hour-long auction saw 77 players being sold, including 29 overseas cricketers, while the rest were Indian players. A total of ₹215.45 crore was spent by the 10 IPL franchises. The auction threw up several interesting trends. Kolkata Knight Riders spent a massive ₹43.20 crore on just two players, while Chennai Super Kings surprised many by spending ₹28.40 crore on two uncapped Indian batters. Several teams focused on strengthening their squads with young Indian talent, while some franchises opted for value buys. Here is a team-wise look at how all 10 IPL franchises shaped their squads at the IPL 2026 mini auction. 1. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Big spending on uncapped Indian players CSK entered the auction with a purse of ₹43.40 crore. The team got involved in a bidding war for Cameron Green but eventually lost out to KKR. After that, CSK shifted focus to uncapped Indian talent. The franchise spent a combined ₹28.40 crore to buy Rajasthan wicketkeeper Kartik Sharma and Uttar Pradesh all-rounder Prashant Veer, showing strong faith in young Indian players. 2. Delhi Capitals (DC) David Miller picked up at a bargain Delhi Capitals came in with a purse of ₹21.80 crore and made a smart move by buying David Miller for just ₹2 crore. With a shortage of finishers, Miller proved to be a valuable and cost-effective addition.DC also strengthened their bowling by signing Jammu Kashmir pacer Aqib Nabi for ₹8.40 crore. 3. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ₹43.20 crore spent on just two players KKR had the biggest purse of the auction at ₹64.30 crore and used it to buy the two most expensive players. They signed Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for ₹25.20 crore and Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana for ₹18 crore. KKR also added three uncapped players to their squad. 4. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Value buys over big spending With a purse of ₹22.35 crore, LSG avoided heavy spending. They bought uncapped batter Mukul Chaudhary for ₹2.60 crore and pacer Naman Tiwari for ₹1 crore. They also picked South African pacer Anrich Nortje and Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga for ₹2 crore each. 5. Mumbai Indians (MI) Quinton de Kock returns cheaply Five-time champions MI entered the auction with the smallest purse of ₹2.75 crore. Despite limited funds, they showed interest in Cameron Green initially. Their biggest buy was South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock, who was picked up for just ₹1 crore. De Kock had earlier played for MI in 2020, a season they won. 6. Rajasthan Royals (RR) Ravi Bishnoi gets the biggest cheque RR came with a purse of ₹16.05 crore and spent the most on leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, buying him for ₹7.20 crore.Apart from Bishnoi, the Royals added seven uncapped players, all bought for less than ₹1 crore each. 7. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Venkatesh Iyer finally joins Defending champions RCB entered with ₹16.40 crore. After failing to buy Venkatesh Iyer last season despite bidding ₹23.50 crore, they finally secured him this time for ₹7 crore. RCB also strengthened their bowling by adding New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy for ₹2 crore. 8. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Late action, focus on uncapped players SRH entered the auction with ₹25.50 crore but stayed quiet during the first five sets. Even after 10 sets, they had bought only one player. They eventually signed Shivang Sharma for ₹30 lakh and added a total of seven uncapped players to their squad. 9. Gujarat Titans (GT) Slow start, steady finish IPL 2022 champions GT had a purse of ₹12.90 crore. Like SRH, they did not bid in the first five sets. Their first purchase was uncapped bowler Ashok Sharma for ₹90 lakh. GT later added experienced all-rounder Jason Holder to their squad. 10. Punjab Kings (PBKS) Minimal changes to the squad Last season’s runners-up PBKS, entered the auction with ₹11.50 crore but did not place any bids in the first 10 sets. Having retained 21 players, PBKS had only four slots to fill. They opened their account by buying Australia’s Cooper Connolly.
