In the ongoing murder case of transport businessman Raja Raghuwanshi, two friends of the main accused, Sonam Raghuwanshi, appeared in court on Thursday. Both women joined the hearing from Indore through video conferencing, with their legal team present during the proceedings. The women, Deepanshi and Priyanshi, work in computer operations at Sonam’s brother Govind Raghuwanshi’s factory. During the hearing, the court recorded Deepanshi’s statement, while Priyanshi’s testimony is scheduled for the next session. Sources said the court first asked Deepanshi to identify Sonam and then questioned her about his behaviour. She was also asked if she knew Raja Raghuwanshi. After giving her statement, both women left the court without speaking to the media. Raja was murdered on May 23
Indore resident and transport businessman Raja Raghuwanshi married Sonam on May 11 this year. After this, both went to Shillong, Meghalaya on May 21 for their honeymoon. Where both went missing on May 23. After 10 days, police recovered Raja’s mutilated body from a 30-foot-deep ravine, which had multiple wounds inflicted by a sharp weapon. Sonam was missing then. After this, she surrendered in UP. After interrogating her, Akash, Anand and Vishal were arrested. Sonam had a romantic relationship with Raj Kushwaha. However, her family had denied this. Wife Sonam took Raja to a distant location under the pretext of sightseeing. The other three murder accused also followed them. Then they killed him by attacking with two knives, one of which was later recovered from the jungle. Sonam fled from the crime scene and later surrendered before the police in Uttar Pradesh. All five accused including Sonam and Raj are currently in judicial custody.
