An inhuman incident similar to the Delhi Nirbhaya case has come to light near Kanpar village on the border of Atkot near Rajkot district of Gujarat. A 6-year-old innocent girl playing in the field was dragged into the bushes by a farm laborer. After the rape, he crossed all limits of brutality with her. The accused is a resident of Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh. Police arrested the accused within hours of the incident. A case has been registered against the accused under serious sections. Police will present him in court for 7 7-day remand. 10 suspects lineup, girl identified accused According to Rajkot Rural SP Vijay Singh Gurjar, the victim is originally from Dahod district. The family works as laborers in fields. After rape, the accused inserted a rod into the girl’s private parts, causing serious injuries. The girl kept crying in pain, but the accused fled, leaving her there in a bloody condition. Police formed 10 teams and scanned CCTV footage within a 10-kilometer radius. 10 suspects came forward. The girl identified accused Ramsingh Tejsingh in the presence of a child counselor, women police, and a doctor. What happened on December 4? The accused worked as a laborer in a nearby field. The victim’s maternal uncle and aunt also worked in the same field. Around 12 noon, children were playing. The accused lured the girl with chocolate and took her behind the water tank. When the rape attempt failed, he stabbed a rod in her private parts. As the girl’s condition deteriorated, he fled. The family admitted the girl to the hospital, and then the police were informed. Accused himself is father of a 13-year-old daughter The accused Ramsingh (30) is a resident of Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh. He has two sons and a 13-year-old daughter. The FSL team has collected evidence from the crime scene. The victim’s medical examination has been conducted. The government has been directed to file a chargesheet quickly and ensure strict punishment. Sudden perversion in mind, no prior planning According to police, the accused had not made any prior plans. He suddenly developed perversion upon seeing the child. No criminal record of the accused has been found. Currently, a case has been registered under the POCSO Act; more sections may be added based on the medical report. During treatment at the hospital, a female constable was deployed for 24 hours. When doctors confirmed that the girl had been sexually assaulted, an FIR was registered. After the incident, outrage spread in Atkot and the surrounding areas. People are demanding strict punishment, like hanging, for the culprit. Accused confessed to crime during police interrogation During police interrogation, the accused admitted that he attempted to rape the child. When the girl resisted, he stabbed her with a rod. The accused committed the crime by covering the girl’s mouth. Child’s condition stable, discharge possible in 2-3 days The family found the girl covered in blood near the field. She was first admitted to a local hospital and then to the women’s hospital in Rajkot. According to doctors, the girl’s condition is now stable, and she may be discharged in 2-3 days. What is Nirbhaya Case? On December 16, 2012, in Delhi, 6 people gang-raped Nirbhaya. They inserted an iron rod into her private parts. Due to her critical condition, Nirbhaya was taken to Singapore for treatment on December 27, where she died at Mount Elizabeth Hospital on December 29. The four convicts of Nirbhaya’s gang rape and murder – Mukesh Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay Sharma (26), and Akshay Kumar Singh (31) were hanged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail on March 20, 2020. One convict, Ram Singh, committed suicide in Tihar Jail. The sixth accused was a minor during the incident. He was released in 2015.
