During delivery at Balaghat District Hospital, the baby died. Family members allege that the lady doctor present at the scene refused to operate, saying her duty was over. The situation deteriorated until another doctor arrived, and the baby lost its life. The ASHA worker said – when asked for an operation, the duty doctor behaved rudely. The CMHO has said they will investigate the incident. The incident happened on Monday. Jharna Daharwal from Warasivani had arrived for delivery. Pregnant woman sent back from operation theater
Jharna’s aunt-in-law, Geeta Daharwal, said – the daughter-in-law started having labor pains between 4-5 AM on Monday. When she started bleeding, we brought her to the district hospital. ASHA worker Anita Jamunpane was also with us. Upon reaching the hospital, we asked for immediate operation. Dr. Rashmi Baghmare, who was present there, sent Jharna back from the operating theater, citing the end of her duty hours. Another doctor came after some time. She operated, but by then the baby had already died in the womb. Allegation of misbehavior with ASHA worker
ASHA worker Anita Jamunpane said – When we asked Dr. Rashmi Baghmare to operate, she said her duty was over. When I told her that Jharna’s condition was serious, she started misbehaving. I have informed CMMHO Dr. Paresh Uplap about the matter. Doctor said – Death occurred before bringing to hospital
Meanwhile, Dr. Rashmi Baghmare has denied the allegations made by the family. She said – When the woman was brought to the hospital, the baby’s heartbeat in her womb had already stopped. I was on duty until 10 AM. After saying this much to the Bhaskar reporter, she hung up the phone. On this matter, CHMO Dr. Paresh Uplap said that he is currently out of the city and will investigate the case after returning. He also informed that when the woman was brought to the hospital, the baby in the womb had already died. Second such incident in 20 days, doctor was suspended
Earlier, on November 11, Kiran Dongre from Kirnapur’s unborn child died due to a delayed operation. In that case, Dr. Geeta Barmate was suspended. Two consecutive cases have raised serious questions about the services of the district hospital. Local people say that due to such incidents, patients are losing trust in government hospitals and are being forced to turn to private hospitals.
