It is being learnt that the 37-year-old, who was released by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, has decided to hang up his IPL boots as he did not want to part of another setup. The West Indian all-rounder, announced his decision through a social media post. “Hanging up my IPL boots… but not the swagger. What a ride it’s been in the IPL — 12 seasons of memories, and a whole lot of love from the KKR family,” he captioned the post. “I’ll still be smashing sixes and taking wickets in every other league around the world. And the best part? I’m not leaving home… you’ll see me in a new role, in KKR’s Support Staff, as POWER COACH of 2026,” he wrote alongside a video message. Russell, a two-time IPL champion and one of the league’s most feared finishers, played 119 matches and delivered several iconic performances for KKR.
