Through this, users will be able to update their mobile number on the Aadhaar app with OTP verification and face authentication. This service will facilitate people living in remote areas and senior citizens. How will the new service work According to UIDAI, the process of updating the mobile number has been kept very simple. Why is Aadhaar mobile update necessary? Aadhaar card is the country’s largest identity service, with data of over 130 crore people linked to it. The mobile number is its most crucial part, as it provides access to bank accounts, government subsidies, income tax verification, and digital services like DigiLocker through OTP. If the number becomes old or is lost, many problems can arise. Until now, to update it, one had to go to an enrollment center, where there was the hassle of biometric verification and long queues.
