After the shocking rape of a 6-year-old girl in Goharganj, Raisen, senior leaders from both the BJP and Congress visited the hospital to meet the victim’s family and inquire about her condition. BJP and Congress MLAs shared photos, later deleted posts Amid these visits, BJP MLA Surendra Patwa (Bhojpur) and Congress MLA Arif Masood (Bhopal Central) posted photos and videos on social media showing their meeting with the victim’s family. Patwa not only uploaded pictures on Facebook but also mentioned the name of the victim’s village. His supporters widely shared the post. After strong backlash for revealing details that could identify the minor survivor, Patwa deleted the post. Patwa later said that the photo was posted “by mistake” and was removed immediately, alleging that Congress leader Paresh Nagar was doing “disgusting politics” over a sensitive matter. Congress MLA posted videos with father Congress MLA Arif Masood went a step further—he posted a video of his interaction with the victim’s father from the hospital. After backlash on social media for revealing identifying information, Masood deleted his post as well. Influencer Harsha Richhariya makes reel showing survivor’s face Harsha Richhariya—who had gone viral during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh as a model appearing in saffron attire—created an Instagram reel on the case. Her video showed the minor survivor’s face clearly, again raising serious concerns about violation of privacy. In her reel, Harsha demanded strict action against the accused. However, posting visuals that reveal a rape survivor’s identity, especially a minor, is a punishable offense under Indian law. Women in victim’s village question political visits When Madhya Pradesh Mahila Congress president Vibha Patel visited the victim’s village, women confronted her, saying it would be better not to provoke people or politicize such a sensitive incident.
