A case of severe corporal punishment has been reported from Sandeepani School in the Budi area of urban Balaghat, where a teacher allegedly thrashed seven Class 6 students. The incident is said to have occurred on November 26, and parents allege that the in-charge principal of the secondary section, Chitra Bopche, attempted to suppress the matter. Students allegedly forced to lie on bench beaten According to parents, teacher Ramprasad Rahangdale made all seven students lie down on a bench and beat them. Some parents also claimed that the teacher attempted to choke the students. The matter surfaced when the children started refusing to attend school out of fear. Upon questioning, they revealed the details of the assault to their parents. MLA reaches school after parents complain Disturbed by the incident, the parents approached local MLA Anubha Munjare, who visited the school on Thursday. She reprimanded the staff and demanded accountability from the management. The MLA expressed strong displeasure with the conduct of the acting principal and questioned why immediate action was not taken. Principal kept uninformed about incident During her visit, MLA Munjare learned that the official principal, Dr. Yuvraj Rahangdale, was not informed about the assault. She raised concerns over why the middle school administration withheld information from senior officials despite the seriousness of the case. MLA says, ‘Children now scared to attend school’ MLA Anubha Munjare condemned the teacher’s actions, stating that even if students were making noise, such brutal beating was ‘inhuman and condemnable.’ She added that many students were now afraid to return to school and announced that she would file a complaint with the district administration and the Education Minister.
