Posting on X on Thursday, the 28-year-old wicketkeeper admitted that the team’s performance in the past two weeks had fallen well below expectations. Pant wrote, ‘There’s no point avoiding the fact that we haven’t played good cricket in the last 2 weeks. We couldn’t live up to expectations, we are sorry for that.’ His message came a day after India suffered a 408-run loss, their biggest defeat in terms of runs in Test cricket. The result also meant India were clean-swept at home for the second time in 13 months, raising serious concerns about form and consistency.
