India’s Test series loss to South Africa has raised several questions, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not prepared to make any sudden or harsh decisions. Despite suffering their second home whitewash by South Africa in 12 months, the board is opting for stability over drastic changes. This approach comes at a time when the Indian team is struggling in the longest format. While they enjoyed success against England and the West Indies recently, the repeated losses to top teams have created concerns about consistency. Even then, the BCCI believes the team is currently going through a transition and needs time. In the coming days, the board is expected to meet with the selectors and team management to gain a better understanding of the issues. However, early signs indicate that they want to continue backing the current group of players. While no major changes are expected, the BCCI may call for a meeting after the South Africa series to discuss the roadmap ahead. For now, the focus is on supporting the team through its transition phase. Under Gambhir’s tenure, India has lost Test series to New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia in the last year.
