College students torched buses-cars, vandalized ambulance:4 thousand VIT Sehore students create chaos as police deploy forces from 5 stations today

Around 4,000 students of VIT College in Sehore created chaos on the campus on Tuesday night. The students carried out large-scale vandalism and even set a bus on fire. They also damaged an ambulance. As the situation worsened, the police had to call forces from five police stations. The college management has now declared a holiday till 30 November. VIT College is located in Ashta area of Sehore district. The students were protesting against the poor quality of food and water in the college. They claim that many students have fallen sick with jaundice because of unsafe food and water. Some students have reportedly died. Students have complained that when they protested against the irregularities, the hostel wardens and guards assaulted them. They were pressured to remain silent. When there was no hearing anywhere, approximately 4000 students gathered on the college campus. Extensive vandalism took place. Students broke a bus, bikes, and an ambulance. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Sub-Divisional Officer Revenue, SDOP Ashta, and heavy police forces from Ashta, Jawar, Parvati, Kotwali, and Mandi police stations reached the spot. SP Deepak Shukla informed that the current situation is normal. Holidays have been declared in VIT till November 30. Some children are going to their homes. The SDM-SDOP will take applications regarding the problems of all hostel children in VIT and information about sick children. Meeting of Management and Students to be Held Today
The administration has assured the students that their grievances will be discussed with the management for resolution. A joint meeting will be organized today with the students and college management. Aashta’s SDOP Akash Amalkar informed that the current situation in the college and hostel premises is completely normal and under control. Adequate police force has been deployed in the premises and the situation is being continuously monitored.
