An elderly security guard in Bhopal, critically injured after being hit by a car driven by a woman ASI, died during treatment on Sunday—on the same day his daughter was supposed to get married. His family has now accused the officer of misbehavior and demand that a case of culpable homicide be filed. Elderly guard injured in accident, dies after two weeks Parveen Naqvi, an Assistant Sub-Inspector posted in the Inward-Outward Branch of Bhopal EOW, allegedly hit security guard Abdul Shafiq (58) with her Nexa car. Shafiq, a resident of Shahjahanabad near Bakri Wali Masjid, was working as a security guard at the high-profile Regalia Heights society in Koh-e-Fiza. After completing his night shift on 7 November 2025, he was heading home on his motorcycle when the accident took place at the Koh-e-Fiza Hospital signal. ASI Naqvi, who was driving the car herself, took the injured guard to Hamidia Hospital. Later, his family shifted him to Chirayu Hospital in Bhainsakhedi, where he remained under treatment for nearly two weeks before succumbing to his injuries on 23 November. The family postponed his daughter’s wedding, scheduled for a day earlier, due to his critical condition. Family alleges: “She promised treatment, now she misbehaves” Shafiq’s son-in-law, Rashid, said the ASI initially appeared concerned and suggested admitting Shafiq to a private hospital. However, after that, the family alleges she never visited again, refused to cooperate over phone, and allegedly misbehaved and threatened them using her police position. “She promised help, but after admission, she stopped coming. She misbehaves on calls, accuses us instead, and even threatens us using her position,”
Rashid said. The family has lodged an FIR at Koh-e-Fiza police station. The police had seized Naqvi’s car soon after the incident. With Shafiq’s death, the family is demanding that a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder be registered. Audio clip surfaces: ASI claims ‘it wasn’t my fault’ An audio clip of a phone conversation between the family and ASI Naqvi has surfaced. In the recording, the family pleads for help, saying they cannot afford further treatment. ASI Naqvi is heard saying: The call ends with the ASI stating she has no time to talk. Family struggles financially; borrowed money for daughter’s wedding Shafiq had two daughters—one married, the younger scheduled to marry on 22 November. He had borrowed ₹35,000 from a friend for wedding preparations, but the entire amount went into his medical expenses. Additional loans from relatives and neighbours were also taken to continue treatment, but the family could not save him. Police begin probe; CCTV footage to be reviewed Koh-e-Fiza Police Station in-charge K.G. Shukla said, A case has been registered and investigation has begun. We will examine CCTV footage from the area. Further legal action will follow based on evidence. The family continues to demand strict action, stating that the accused ASI should be booked immediately given the death of the victim.
