woman-dies-after-delivery-in-neemuch-district-hospital:relatives-assault-police,-family-alleges-her-condition-worsened-after-blood-transfusion

A tense situation erupted at the Neemuch District Hospital after a woman died during treatment three days after giving birth. Enraged relatives vandalised the ICU gate, scuffled with doctors, and even slapped policemen who arrived to calm the situation. The family alleges that the woman’s condition deteriorated after a blood transfusion, ultimately leading to her death. Dr Lal Dhakad of the district hospital stated that the patient had delivered three days earlier and had been stable. However, her haemoglobin level was low, and she received a blood transfusion during the day. Her condition worsened in the evening, prompting the medical team to begin emergency treatment. According to Dr Dhakad, around seven specialist doctors worked to save her, but she could not be revived. He added that the exact cause of death would only be confirmed after the post-mortem report is released. Second delivery turns tragic The deceased, Tina, a resident of Achari in Rajasthan, had been admitted for her second delivery. She already had a two-year-old son. On Saturday evening, her health suddenly deteriorated. At around 9 pm, she was shifted from the delivery ward to the ICU and died approximately an hour later during treatment. News of her death caused her husband, Prahlad Meena, to collapse. His condition deteriorated, and he too had to be admitted for medical attention. Pictures of the commotion at the hospital… Family alleges Blood reaction and delay by doctors Tina’s mother claimed that her daughter suffered an adverse reaction after being administered a bottle of blood. She alleged that when Tina’s condition worsened, doctors were called but arrived late. Tina was shifted to the ICU immediately, but she died shortly afterwards. Relatives also complained that money had been given to a doctor for treatment before the operation, implying negligence and misconduct. Gate vandalised, policeman slapped amid chaos Anger intensified when relatives confronted paediatrician Dr Yogendra Dhakad, surrounding and jostling him. As the commotion escalated, a policeman reached the ICU area but was also manhandled. The agitated group broke the gate outside the ICU and pushed other staff members. In a moment of rage, an elderly man slapped the policeman. Additional personnel from the Cantt Police Station arrived to control the situation. They attempted to pacify the relatives for a long time. Body shifted for post-mortem After prolonged discussions, the hospital moved Tina’s body from the ICU to the post-mortem room around midnight. The formal post-mortem examination is expected to determine the cause of death, which remains disputed between hospital authorities and the family.
