What RBI governor said on rupee? The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), governor, Sanjay Malhotra had reiterated on Thursday that the central bank does not target a specific level for the currency. He attributed the recent depreciation primarily to trade uncertainties stemming from US tariffs. However, he expressed optimism that India would secure a favorable trade agreement with the US, which he believes will ultimately ease pressure on the current account and stabilize the rupee.
