In view of the safety of devotees coming to Ujjain from all over the country for the darshan of Shri Mahakal, the Railway Police (GRP) is undertaking a new initiative. The GRP has prepared a profile of 350 auto drivers, which will be available to passengers via a QR code. They will also be able to know whether the driver of the auto they are riding in has a criminal background or not. The GRP is going to paste QR codes on autos. Passengers will be able to scan this code with their mobile phones and view complete information about the auto driver. Railway SP Padm Vilochan Shukla arrived in Ujjain on Friday. He called all auto drivers to the GRP station to introduce this innovation. QR code not mandatory for everyone The SP told auto drivers that it is not mandatory for all auto drivers to have a QR code. A QR code will be affixed to the auto of whoever wishes to have one. SP Shukla informed that the Government Railway Police will provide a verified vehicle driver’s QR code with the tag “Our Ride, Trustworthy” to vehicle drivers. Complete information will be in the QR code This QR code will provide the auto driver’s name, address, mobile number, whether any case is registered, and also the auto’s registration number. One lakh devotees visit daily One lakh devotees visit Ujjain daily for the darshan of Baba Mahakal. Among them, 30 percent alight at the bus stand and railway station and reach Mahakal and other temples. They will be able to travel from the railway station to the temple or other places in a safe environment. Beginning from the first week of December The installation of QR codes in autos could begin from the first week of December. The SP informed that passengers will also be able to give feedback using this QR code after completing their journey. Additionally, the best among the auto drivers who install QR codes will also be honored.
