Shark Tank India judge and Emcure Pharma Executive Director Namita Thapar has expressed displeasure over Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu’s advice about getting married and having children in one’s 20s (20-29 years). She said that women face the most trouble in fulfilling this ‘duty’. Connecting this to Infosys founder Narayana Murthy’s suggestion of 70-hour work weeks, she said that such leaders should speak responsibly. Focus on real issues like women’s health and job participation, rather than giving advice about personal life. Namita’s video is going viral on social media. Such statements put more pressure on women Namita shared a video on her social media handle, in which she described Sridhar Vembu’s advice as outdated and harmful to women. She said that such statements put the most pressure on women. Because they are the ones who have to face difficulties like periods, pregnancy, raising children and menopause. Namita said that leaders should use their voice responsibly. Namita said – If you are fond of numbers then speak on numbers Namita said, “If you are fond of numbers then speak on real figures. For example – 57% women have anemia and women’s participation in workforce is less than 20%. These figures haven’t improved for years. Therefore, influential leaders should use their voice responsibly to speak on real issues.” What is the complete matter? Actually, at an IIT Hyderabad event, actor Ram Charan’s wife and industrialist Upasana Kamineni Konidela said, “The biggest insurance for women is to save their eggs. With this, you can marry according to your wish. You can decide when to have children when you become financially independent.” She gave an example of her own life that today she stands on her own feet, earns by herself, and this security gave her the courage to make bold decisions. Upasana is pregnant for the second time and her first child Klin Kara was born in 2023.
