The Election Commission has become extremely strict regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), prompting officers from the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office to personally monitor and supervise the work being carried out by district collectors. While collectors are warning Booth Level Officers (BLOs) against negligence, they are also offering unusual incentives such as dinner, movie screenings, and outings to encourage better performance. The CEO’s office is determined to ensure that the SIR is completed on time and without any errors. On Thursday night at 11:30 PM, Joint Chief Electoral Officer RPS Jadon conducted a surprise inspection of the digitalisation work in urban areas of Bhopal. This work follows BLOs’ primary reports. Jadon clearly instructed officials to avoid any negligence, warning that action would be taken against defaulters. Municipal Commissioners deployed for additional responsibilities To strengthen the process, the Election Commission has assigned municipal commissioners the role of Additional District Election Officers based on the proposal from the CEO’s office. As a result, municipal staff are working intensively on the digitalisation task. In Bhopal, municipal officials have been entrusted with the responsibility of digitalisation. During the inspection, Jadon interacted with around 25 BLOs and operators, reviewed the ongoing work, and instructed them to speed up the process to meet the Commission’s timeline. Additional Commissioner Varun Awasthi and other officials briefed Jadon about the proceedings being carried out by the municipal team. Rewa Collector offers dinner, movie tickets, and safari trip as incentives To improve the performance of the SIR digitalisation process, district collectors are even offering perks to staff.
