Lucknow Super Giants to welcome Mohammed Shami for IPL 2026:SRH send veteran pacer in all-cash deal to Rishabh Pant-led franchise- Report

Another blockbuster trade might have taken place amid fans awaiting the Sanju Samson trade update to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This time, it has been learnt that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have given their nod to trade Mohammed Shami to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Notably, on 13 November 2025, the Mumbai Indians confirmed the trade of Shardul Thakur and Sherfane Rutherford for ₹4.6 crore, each for their base price. As per ESPN Cricinfo, LSG has adopted the same base price approach to land Shami into their squad. However, the franchises still await veteran pacer’s consent. Lucknow Super Giants set to grab Shami in all-cash deal The IPL franchise LSG is set to be an all-cash deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad to land Mohammed Shami for ₹10 crore. Notably, it is the same base price for which the SRH bought the seasoned pacer during the IPL 2025 mega auction. The retention list is yet to come out at 3 PM on November 15, but it seems that franchises have agreed on the deal. Meanwhile, Shami yet to give his nod to move ahead with it. Instead of honing the pace attack of the LSG, there are chances that Mohammed Shami has been included to fill the vacuum left by Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan. Notably, all three of these pacers are currently in rehab from various injuries. Mayank had surgery in June to deal with a lower back injury, while Mohsin is recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament tear he suffered in December while playing for Uttar Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Moreover, Avesh is recovering from a cartilage issue in his right knee. Underwhelming with the ball in IPL 2025 Shami was bought by SRH for Rs 10 crore at the last mega auction in Jeddah, but his performance last season was not to talk of. He just scalped six wickets at an underwhelming average of 56.17 and an economy rate of 11.23, compared to his career figures of 28.19 and 8.63, respectively. In those two seasons, he scalped 48 wickets, although he missed the entire IPL 2024 due to injury.
