In Indore’s Bhanwarkuan area, Bajrang Dal workers caught a gym trainer, identified as Shadab Mansuri, roaming in a car with a young woman on Monday night. The workers allegedly beat him up and later took him to the police station. Since the incident site fell under a different jurisdiction, the case was transferred from Bhanwarkuan police station to Juni Indore police station. Beaten and taken to police station According to Bajrang Dal district coordinator Vijay Kalkhor, Shadab Mansuri works as a gym trainer and had befriended the woman when she visited the gym. The two were driving around near Palsikar Square when Bajrang Dal members stopped their vehicle. They beat Shadab at the spot, even as the woman tried to intervene and protect him. Police action and allegations At the Juni Indore police station, the woman refused to file an FIR. On Tuesday, police took action against Shadab Mansuri under restrictive sections and sent him to jail. Bajrang Dal workers alleged that Mansuri is married and has two children, and accused him of “misleading” women who visit the gym. Two photographs of the incident surfaced, showing Bajrang Dal workers surrounding the trainer and escorting him to the police station after the assault. Police have not yet commented on any action against those involved in the beating.
