Today, it operates one of India’s largest eyewear retail networks. Bansal, along with a friend from Kolkata, envisioned creating a company that would change the mindset of Indians who typically avoided wearing glasses. Through LinkedIn, they connected with Sumeet Kapahi, who had recently left his job at an eyewear company. Together, they launched Valyoo Technologies in 2010, which managed several e-commerce ventures — including Lenskart, Jewelkart, Bagkart, and Watchkart. An Initial Public Offering (IPO) occurs when a company offers its shares to the public for the first time. Businesses often require funds to expand their operations, and instead of borrowing, they can raise capital by selling shares to investors. By issuing new shares to the public, companies invite individuals and institutions to become part-owners — a key reason why companies bring IPOs to the market.
