Pakistan’s young all-rounder Muhammad Shahzad grabbed headlines after imitating Hardik Pandya’s iconic shrug pose following Pakistan’s title win at the Hong Kong Sixes in Mong Kok. The pose, first made famous by Pandya after India’s T20 World Cup triumph in Barbados last year, resurfaced in dramatic fashion as Shahzad celebrated Pakistan’s sixth Sixes crown. Pandya pose returns- this time in Pakistan colours Moments after Pakistan defeated Kuwait by 43 runs in the final, Shahzad placed the trophy on the ground and mimicked Pandya’s stance, arms spread and shoulders shrugged. The image quickly went viral on social media, with fans debating whether it was a tribute to Pandya or a cheeky nod to India’s arch-rivalry with Pakistan. Pakistan dominate Hong Kong Sixes once again Shahzad’s celebration capped a superb campaign for Pakistan, who lifted their record sixth title at the Mission Road Ground. Their only defeat came against India in the group stage but they rebounded strongly to clinch the trophy. Abbas Afridi’s stunning 52 off 11 balls powered Pakistan to 132 in the final before their bowlers bowled out Kuwait for 93. Earlier, Pakistan edged past Australia by just one run in a tense semifinal. Shahzad’s rise continues Shahzad, who finished as Pakistan’s top wicket-taker with seven wickets, has yet to debut for the senior side but continues to impress at the domestic level. Earlier this year, he produced a five-wicket haul and an unbeaten century in the President’s Cup final- a rare double that showcased his all-round promise. Pakistan’s Sixes supremacy intact With this win, Pakistan strengthened their hold as the most successful team in Hong Kong Sixes history. The mix of experience and youth, led by emerging stars like Shahzad, once again highlighted Pakistan’s knack for dominating the fast-paced, high-scoring format. India lost to Kuwait, UAE and Nepal India also participated in the tournament but could not reach the semis after losses to Kuwait, the UAE and Nepal. However, in the India-Pakistan fixture, it was once again India, a side led by Dinesh Karthik that came out on top.
