An elderly man was killed on Thursday when a large iron gate suddenly collapsed inside the Collectorate premises in Dhar. The victim, identified as 75-year-old Parsaram, son of Dhannalal Jat and a resident of Rasmandal, was passing by the area when the gate fell, trapping him underneath. He died on the spot. Trapped under the gate, rushed to hospital Eyewitnesses said Parsaram was walking towards the Collectorate when one of the two heavy iron gates installed at the outer part of the premises suddenly came crashing down. Due to its weight, the elderly man remained trapped for several minutes. People nearby rushed to help, and around 5–7 individuals together lifted the gate to rescue him. Parsaram was immediately taken to the district hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. Suffered severe head and body injuries Medical Officer Dr. Ayushi Jain said that when the victim was brought to the hospital, he had neither pulse nor blood pressure. Despite administering CPR and WAGMAS, he could not be revived. Dr. Jain confirmed that he sustained severe injuries to his head and multiple parts of his body, leading to his death. Investigation underway Following the incident, SDM Rahul Gupta said an investigation has been initiated, and the post-mortem report is awaited. Station In-charge Hiru Singh Rawat stated that prima facie, the cause of death appears to be due to being crushed under the gate. Police have begun probing how the gate collapsed within the Collectorate premises.
