With the wedding season approaching, Ujjain’s Goyal family creates a stir with one-of-a-kind invitation. The card honours Lord Mahakal, the city’s famous deity. It includes sacred symbols like Bhasma (ash), Trishul (trident), Rudraksha beads, and Damru (drum). The family spent one month preparing these special invitations, making them a true reflection of Ujjain’s culture and spirituality. Wedding details Parth, son of Sachin Goyal from Azad Nagar, Ujjain, is marrying Komal from Bhopal. The wedding is scheduled for 27 November. To invite relatives, the family has prepared 400 special cards. Cost and preparation Each card cost around Rs 250, taking the total to about Rs 1 lakh for all 400 invitations. Ten family members worked together to create the cards. The team included the groom’s parents, two sisters, maternal uncle and aunt, and children from Sevadham Ashram. Sacred materials used The invitation cards are printed using: Sachin Goyal collected Bhasma over two months during the morning Bhasma Aarti at Mahakal Temple. This sacred ash was packed with care and attached to every card, ensuring that the invitations are preserved and respected. Mandana folk art on cards The cards also feature Mandana, a traditional folk art from Malwa. This design is drawn using natural materials like rice paste, red clay, and white mud. Creating Mandana on each card required great effort and attention to detail. Symbolism of Shiva Shakti Sachin Goyal explained that Ujjain embodies both Shiva and Shakti. Lord Mahakal represents Shiva, and Mata Harsiddhi represents Shakti. The trident symbolises Shakti, while the Damru represents Mahakal. The Damru and Trishul used in the cards were specially ordered from Meerut. Other materials were sourced locally from Ujjain and Indore. Ceremony scheduled The wedding ceremony and blessing ritual will take place on 27 November. These invitations not only serve as wedding cards but also as symbols of faith and devotion to Lord Mahakal and Shakti.
