The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have taken a major step ahead of the next IPL season by appointing former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody as their new Global Director of Cricket. In this role, Moody will not only look after the IPL franchise but will also oversee LSG’s sister teams – Durban Super Giants in South Africa’s SA20 league and the Manchester team in England’s The Hundred competition. Moody will work closely with head coach Justin Langer and strategic advisor Kane Williamson to help rebuild and strengthen the team after two disappointing IPL seasons. His arrival is seen as a big boost for LSG, which is looking to regain its early momentum in the tournament. Although LSG’s owner RP Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG) has not officially announced the move, sources suggest Moody will join the franchise soon. He will replace former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan, who served as Head of Cricket Operations in IPL 2025 but left the team after one season. A proven leader in global cricket Tom Moody is one of the most experienced and respected names in international and franchise cricket. Over the past two decades, he has coached several successful teams across the world. Recently, he guided England’s Oval Invincibles to their third consecutive title in The Hundred. In addition, Moody coached the Desert Vipers in the ILT20 league, leading them to runner-up finishes in both 2023 and 2025. He is also well-known among IPL fans for his successful stint as Sunrisers Hyderabad’s head coach from 2013 to 2019, where he helped the team win the IPL title in 2016. Later, in 2021, he took charge as the Director of Cricket for the franchise.
